“What I appreciate most about Kontur Magazine is its synthesis of local, regional, and global content – how it creates connections between Hungarian artists from Slovakia, Slovak and international artists, art professionals, events and institutions. This is complemented by its multilingualism, diverse content, and a young, dynamic team committed to quality work. The magazine is a space where you can linger, discover new things, get to know creators, and experience solidarity between cultures. Please support the work of Kontur Magazine!”

“What’s fantastic about Kontur Magazine is that it transcends both perceived and real boundaries, filling a void in Slovak art criticism. The fact that Kontur is trilingual is not just good or useful – it is culture, it is collaboration.”

“Art is free and creative; it enriches our lives. Let’s get closer to contemporary visual art, rethink our evaluation of recent art history, and better understand the visual culture of our surroundings! This is what Kontur Magazine offers – Slovakia’s only trilingual (Hungarian, Slovak and English) online visual arts journal. Let’s support it with 2% of our taxes!”

“Kontur is like a living archive of contemporary art: it maps, connects and opens space for important discourses, enabling community building, critical dialogue and deeper reflection on contemporary art. Without independent platforms, many artistic voices would remain unheard, and society would lose new perspectives. Donating 2% of our taxes can help keep this space alive and accessible to all.”

Since our peoples, cultures, and territories have been intertwined for centuries, it is particularly important that this magazine fosters renewed dialogue between them. What political discourse has fractured, we can reconnect and heal through non-hierarchical collaboration and mutual interest in art.The Slovak art scene has been fortunate, as it has maintained a continuous symbiosis with the Czech scene despite the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. Kontur Magazine now has the opportunity to expand beyond another national border. And it does so at a time when, due to populist political ideologies, nations are retreating into their own toxic bubbles. With the increasing threats to free culture, connecting Slovak and Hungarian culture, fostering mutual reflection, and supporting solidarity-based cooperation has become more important than ever.”

“The three languages in which Kontur Magazine operates are the very same three languages spoken by many in Slovakia – this is a reality we should celebrate in this country. It is essential to continuously build our relationship with art and culture, in all times and all eras. The fact that these two worlds – multilingualism and contemporary art and culture – come together in an online magazine is a tremendous force for the local art scene.”

“Your 2% tax donation to an organization is like colors to a painter, music to a dancer, a camera to a filmmaker, an instrument to a musician. And an artwork truly comes to life when people talk about it. That is the role of Kontur Magazine.”

*The 2% tax donation is only available to taxpayers in Slovakia. If you do not fall into this category, you can support us with a donation of any amount via bank transfer. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference!
