There is No Landscape

András Blazsek is a visual artist from Šamorín, a town significantly affected by the Gabčíkovo Power Plant and its artificial canal, who was a resident artist at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Germany, in 2022. He presented his project entitled There is No Landscape (Táj nincs) at the end of his residency, which interprets the changes caused by the hydroelectric power plant with the help of data visualisation, among other things.

The presentation of the project was partly concluded by an online lecture held by art historian and writer Emily Verla Bovino, who discussed the various stages of his long-term artistic research, the artist’s motivations, as well as the historical, sociological, artistic and geographic context of his work.

The recording of the lecture is published with Hungarian, Slovak and English subtitles with the permission of the artist and E.V. Bovino. You can change the subtitles’ language in the Settings menu.
